Duke Medicine Marketing and Creative Services (MCS) oversees the formulation and management of Duke Medicine brands and sub-brands.
We provide marketing management for Duke Medicine service lines, programs, and initiatives; we also manage and execute marketing communications efforts that include advertising campaigns, periodicals, and collateral materials as well as Web-based marketing initiatives.
Our marketing team provides marketing management and market research support to entities within Duke Medicine, and provides assistance with sponsorship and event support requests.
The group works extensively with service line leadership to develop marketing strategies that meet defined business objectives aligned with system priorities.
Planning, coordination, and tactical execution of marketing strategies is done in partnership with a number of internal groups, including the office of Strategic and Clinical Services Planning and the Duke Consultation and Referral Center. When more information about consumers is needed, standardized and customized research can be conducted to help better inform the marketing process.
Resources available include online survey tools, online and live focus groups, consumer preference/perception data, and coordination with outside consultants for more elaborate studies.
MCS is responsible for the visual formulation and extensions of all Duke Medicine brands and sub-brands, including all entities that fall under the auspices of the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, or the Health System.
Permission to create new brands, logos, or representative graphic marks for or within these entities must be approved by our office.
All applications of any Duke Medicine brand must follow the established branding standards, or be expressly approved by this Office.
MCS writers and designers provide custom solutions to meet marketing communications needs. These communications include annual reports, brochures, advertisements, videos, imprinted giveaways, and much more.
MCS also produces a number of magazines and newsletters for patients, physicians, and the public.

MCS manages Duke Medicine’s primary institutional and consumer Web sites, including dukemedicine.org and DukeHealth.org, and undertakes other projects as selected. The Web team has extensive experience in designing, writing, and developing Web sites.
